On Monday, July 4, 2016, Eduardo Paes, Mayor of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), inaugurated the new express line BRT (bus rapid transit) Transolimpica. This is, for the Brazilian capital of one of the most important infrastructure in decades.
Terra Armada (Brazil), being responsible for the design, supply and technical assistance of more than 46,500 m² of Reinforced Earth® walls with TerraClass® facings equipped with more than 700 tons of high adherence strips, participated predominantly in the project.
This dedicated 26 km expressway passes through two tunnels and on several bridges and flyovers. This two three-lane carriageways with one lane in each sense dedicated the BRT system will be a vital artery during the 2016 Olympic Games (from August 5 to 21, 2016).
Indeed, they connect the two largest sites of the competition, the Olympic Park in Barra da Tijuca and the Deodoro Sports Complex.
